Champions for Children, co-founded by Washington Glory star shortstop and 2007 League MVP Amber Jackson, and the Washington Glory organization, is committed to providing disadvantaged and at risk youth with mentorship and leadership through sports. Our mission is to provide strong examples of, and training in, the areas of character, integrity, academic achievement, self confidence, discipline, sports skills and the development of a ‘champion’s mentality’.
Members of the Washington Glory, winners of the 2007 NPF World Championship, will serve as the backbone of Champions for Children. The Washington Glory is a women’s professional fastpitch softball team in the National Pro Fastpitch league, an official developmental partner of Major League Baseball. Gloria Lends a Hand to Her Fellow Goldens
The Washington Glory hosted a GRREAT Tailgate night during the 2007 season where fans of the Glory & Goldens were welcomed to bring their favorite canines out to the park for the evening. GRREAT representatives were onhand to talk about their wonderful efforts to save & educate Goldens in the Northern Virginia region, and even raise a few dollars for their programming while they were at it!
